In July, 2025, Pocono Township voted unanimously to raise STR registration fees from $500 to $2,500.

For short-term rental owners, that’s not just an inconvenience—it’s an existential threat. If one township can impose fees this extreme, others will follow. And when that happens, owning and operating a vacation rental in the Poconos becomes unsustainable.

This is exactly why the Poconos Association of Vacation Rental Owners (Poconos VRO) exists:

To advocate for fair, reasonable regulations.
To push back against government overreach.
To protect the rights of responsible STR owners.

But advocacy takes resources. Showing up at township meetings, building legal and communications strategies, keeping members informed—this work doesn’t happen without funding.
